Tasty and delicious as food, cuttlefish is low in total fat, high in protein and is a good source of a number of vitamins and minerals.
The sweet flesh of fresh cuttlefish is beautiful raw in a tartare, ceviche or sashimi dish.
Cuttlefish must be cooked in either one of two ways, in a ragingly hot pan for 2 to 3 minutes or stewed for the better part of 2 hours. The reason for this is because the muscles of cuttlefish, squid, and octopus are very dense, with enormous amounts of connective tissue.
